Flat Jenny

 

After months of neglect (so sorry) I have finally unearthed the flats and vow to complete this trip, hopefully it will be worth it for the poor women who sent them!

 

So, welcome (officially) to our home!  I love this house, it reminds me of a little cottage.  Lately we have been working on a numbers of things.  One of which is my little garden.  Pathetic as it may be, I have actually put in a great deal of time into trying to grow some of our food.  As you can see though, the amount gained is hardly worth all of the effort.  However, I'm not too discouraged and plan to keep planting some cool weather veggies in hopes  that I may get some before frost!  I'm also in the midst of saving seeds for next year.  I wish I could send you some, but I think it is illegal.

Here there are yellow Summer Squash, Winter Squash, round Cucumber, zucchini.  And behind them are my beans and peas.

 
This is the tomatoes, the peppers (almost non existent) two types of lettuce and Cilantro.

 Late last year, I got into selling Tupperware.  I liked doing  it mostly because I got payed to socialize!  But I just don't have the time to put into it.  So now I'm working on getting rid of the stock that I have! LOL...

 

One of my families focus' have been on preparedness.  So we have been stocking up on essentials and learning some new skills in case we were to need them.  I'll share some with you when I send the package out.

 The hot and humid spring we had, got us thinking about how nice and cool our basement is.  So we finally made the decision to finish it so we can spend more time down there as a family.

 I love doing little crazy and crafty things with the kids.  Planting some grass seeds inside has been something we've done in different ways since the kids were babies.  They love it.  They get to trim off the "hair" when it gets too long.  It can usually be cut every three days, wish I had hair like that!

 
 I have looked into having a worm farm before and have been too worried about the smell.  Well, the kids and I were at the park one day and digging when I found a worm.  I showed the kids and immediately they wanted to "take him home."  So we dug up more, and brought them home in a sand bucket.  We started a mini worm farm out of a jar.  When it was started, there were very clear layers of sand and dirt, now you can see how the worms have eaten their way down, and have "mixed" the layers.  There has been no smell at all and there are about 25 worms in there.  This has encouraged me to start a larger one.  Haven't done it yet.. but it's on the list!

 I've made it a priority to get to know my scriptures.   I have been through a great deal of change and chaos in the last year and have needed a lot of support.  I am trying (very hard) to get up in the morning early enough to do some Bible reading before I get my morning in gear.

 
One of my favorite things about our yard is the Hydrangea bush and the Hydrangea tree.  Last year we were diligent about adding coffee ground and soot from our fire place to the roots, and had some amazing pink flowers.  This year we were lazy so most were this purply-blue color.  Still beautiful.

 Here is the gorgeous Hydrangea Tree.  It was here way before we moved in.  It has those long weeping branches that make a little hiding place for reading :-)

 These too.  Our Holly bushes were insanely out of control.  We clipped them WAY back and ended up with these lush bushes- and the berries starting to turn red. 

 this is the funny part.  We planted a pumpkin plant way off to the side, and it ended up trailing itself up and over the Holly bush! 

 The one herb that has done well this year!  Sweet Basil.  We planted it in a window box on the deck.

Pirate Boy & Jones

Jones was helping Leona make some crafts.  This is a pink caterpillar, Leona's color choice, Jones wanted green!

 It was a pretty cold day so we had a fire going.  At some point it started to die done a little, and David- my husband mentioned it would be perfect for......

 MARSHMALLOWS!!  So we had roasted marshmallows for a snack.


I coordinated a trip to a working farms pumpkin patch for a get together in my Mommy group.  It was a wonderful success!  We had 18 children participating.  We took  a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch, picked a pumpkin, and two gourds. We had apples and Indian corn, and pulled wagons around rows of pumpkins.  The kids were too tired to make it through the corn maze, but it was well worth the $4. per child!

Here are the pictures I took at my work.  I work in a dermatology office and we specialize in lasers.  

This one is called the Ruby laser.  It can treat dark sun marks and remove tatoo's.

 

This one is more powerful.  It can vaporizes warts, vaporize scars, and laser resurfacing.

 

This is the city, sorry but only a car's eye view.

Pirate Boy And Jones

 Indiana Jones and Pirate Boy arrived  September 3oth.  The kids were excited to have new travelers and made fast friends of them.  Leona affectionately calls Indiana Jones, Jones.  And Lucas liked Pirate Boy right off the bat.  Luckily, we have not had any arguing over flats...knock on wood.

 Leona was thrilled with Jones.  Jones, meet Leona.  Leona, meet Jones.

 Jones wanted a ride too, Rusty looks so depressed at this point.

 We introduced both flats to our second pet, Goldie the goldfish- I know, really original.  But the kids named it themselves, they are two and a half!

 Jones and Pirate boy helped us finish up our clay igloo's.  We had to make 20 of them for an alphabet project that we are doing with our play group.  Each letter of the alphabet will have a small tub, where we will have small objects that begin with that letter inside of it.  We are always doing some sort of project like this with our play group.  Thanks for helping guys!

 Jones goes on a train ride, and Leona made sure he got one and off safely!

 Pirate Boy tried to hold up the train, but alas- there was no treasure to be found!

 And here they are sending an email home to check in and let everyone know that they arrived in New York Safely!
